From February 1^st, 2018, codeine-based medications have required a script from a GP. This was because of the high increase in deaths and opioid addictions caused by overdosing with these pain medications (Roxburgh et al., 2017; Shipton, Shipton, Williman & Shipton, 2017). In view of this it is worth noting that acupuncture is fast becoming useful for serious pain conditions (Lee et al., 2013; Ming-Shun et al., 2015).
