Moxibustion

Sometimes used with acupuncture, moxibustion (moxa) is a form of heat treatment utilizing the herb mugwort. Stick moxibustion is lit like a cigar and held over specific acupuncture points. The heat penetrates deeply into the area it is applied to and has a soothing feeling. By promoting the flow of the Qi, it is able to remove stagnation whilst having a calming effect on the patient. There is plenty of literature available on how it is used if you wish to search further. It is a great treatment for internal cold and in colder seasons.
